Exercises That Can Relieve Sciatica Pain

Sciatica is a condition that involves nerve pain in a person's legs, hips, and back. While there are times when surgery may be needed to treat the pain, a lot of people can benefit by performing the right types of exercises daily. Exercises that relieve sciatica pain involve types that stretch the hips, and here are three different exercises you might want to start doing to help relieve the pain and discomfort you experience from this condition.

Exercise 1: Lie on your back

To perform the first exercise, you will need to lie down on the floor on your back. As you lie down, make sure your legs are straight in front of you and flat on the floor. With sciatica, the pain you feel is most likely in just one of your legs, and this exercise will involve the leg that hurts. Take this leg and lift it up while bending your knee. Using both hands, grab your knee and ankle on this leg and move it towards the opposite leg. The purpose of this exercise is to stretch the muscles in your hip and lower back.

Exercise 2: Lie on your back and raise your legs

For this exercise, you will also need to by lying down on the floor on your back. Next, cross one leg over the other leg and lift both legs in the air. Hold this position as long as you can and then repeat the exercise with the legs in the opposite positions. This exercise will help stretch out your lower back and build the muscles in this area.

Exercise 3: Sit up and stretch your legs

This exercise is one you will do while sitting up in a chair or on a couch. To begin, sit straight up with your feet on the floor in front of you and your back straight. Next, straighten out one leg and place the other leg over the straightened leg. Using your arms, pull the knee on the leg that is propped over the other one so that you are stretching your hip muscles. You should hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds and then release and repeat. When finished, switch legs and complete the exercise with the opposite leg.

Exploring Chiropractic Care For Spinal Injuries

Hello, my name is Ashley. Welcome. When I was a young kid, I fell from a tree and injured my spine. I received care from a spinal specialist for many years. Although the condition fully healed, I reinjured my back while working in my early adult years. At that point, I decided to seek help from a skilled chiropractor. My chiropractor helped ease my pain so I could live comfortably while the injury healed. My site will discuss all of the therapeutic processes chiropractors use to treat spinal injuries. I hope you can visit my site often to learn more about this important care provider. Thank you.
